How to grow the succulent plant Daniel

How to grow the succulent plant Daniel

Farming methods

Temperature conditions

Daniel grows best in a warm, dry and well-lit environment. It is relatively drought-resistant but not cold-resistant, so insulation measures should be taken. It is slightly tolerant to partial shade. In order to avoid direct sunlight of high temperature in summer, it can be placed in a sealed place. The minimum growth temperature of Daniel should not be lower than five degrees. If the temperature is lower than this in winter, watering should be slowly controlled to make it slowly dormant. However, if the soil in the pot is dry, it can survive at an indoor temperature of minus 3 degrees.

Fertilizer and water conditions during the growing period

Spring, autumn and early summer are its main growing seasons. We should pay attention to grasp the opportunity to ensure sufficient fertilizer and water energy to prevent the withering of old leaves due to lack of water. We should also pay attention to proper fertilization to store energy for the dormant period. In midsummer, the weather is hot and the plant grows slowly or completely stops, entering a dormant period. It should be kept in a dry and ventilated place, and attention should be paid to shading and rain protection, otherwise it will cause root rot and death.

Soil substrate conditions

You can use a mixture of fine sand, garden soil, chicken manure, etc. as the seedling material, or wood ash + vermiculite. Vermiculite has been listed as an excellent material for seedling cultivation and is particularly beneficial for rooting. The initial cultivation environment needs to have sufficient water to ensure the moisture of the wood ash. After the leaves are inserted, stop additional watering and there is no need to cover with a film to keep it moist.

Flower pot selection

It is generally recommended to choose the small black square, which is a small black square box. Firstly, it is cheap, and the box is small, which saves space. Secondly, there are small holes on the bottom, which makes it water permeable and conducive to the volatilization of soil. Of course, the small black square does not have all advantages. In summer, black absorbs heat and is prone to aging after being exposed to the sun. It needs to be replaced in time, which is rather troublesome. In addition, the temperature is too high in summer and water evaporates quickly, so it is necessary to replenish water in time. Some flower lovers also expressed their preference for ceramic containers because of their higher ornamental value. However, no matter which container is used, it has its own advantages and disadvantages. Flower lovers can choose the container according to their personal preferences and the characteristics of the flowers themselves.

Reproduction method

There are two ways to propagate Daniel. You can either behead the well-growing mother plant to induce the formation of suckers, or you can choose leaf cuttings. For leaf tea, it is best to choose leaves on the pedicels of flowering plants, which are easier to propagate by cuttings. When doing leaf cuttings, you should first select round and full leaves. Unhealthy leaves that are obviously yellow or damaged should be discarded. If the two are mixed together, the latter will easily become moldy and rot and then infect other normal leaves, affecting the survival rate of the seedlings. Choosing healthy leaves can greatly increase the success rate.
