The flower colors include purple, bright red, pink, pure white, variegated colors, etc., with 5 single petals or double petals, serrated at the tip, and a faint fragrance.

There are many types of dianthus, with more than 300 species in the same genus alone. Among the cultivated varieties, the more common ones include Dianthus chinensis, Dianthus whiskerii, Dwarf Dianthus and Dianthus featherii. In addition, there is a variety of carnation introduced from Europe - Dianthus caryophyllus, also known as carnation, among which the yellow one is more precious.

Flowering and maintenance of dianthus flowers

The suitable temperature for the growth of potted carnations is 15~20℃. When the seedlings grow to 15 cm in height, the top buds need to be removed to accelerate the branching of the carnations. In the future, you should also pay attention to cleaning the axillary buds in time, otherwise it will lead to excessive branching, which will disperse nutrients and make the flowers smaller.
