What are the varieties of Buddha's hand?

Guangdong large-fruited bergamot

The tree is tall and has a gray-brown trunk. The branches are green with sharp thorns. The long branches tend to droop after bearing fruit. There are many short branches, and the tips of the tender shoots are purple-red. The leaves and fruits are large, the yield is high, the fruit size is relatively uniform, they are light yellow when ripe, and have a special aromatic smell. It is a high-quality cultivated variety. It is slightly lacking in cold resistance. When the temperature is below 0℃, the young shoots will shrivel. It should avoid extreme heat. When the temperature is above 30℃, the branches and leaves will be short of water. Continuous high temperature will cause fruit drop.

Nanjing Buddha's Hand Fruit

The tree is tall, with a light gray-green stem, small, bluish-green leaves, and green tender shoots. The flowers are white, with more male flowers in April and May and more bisexual flowers starting in late June. The fruit is slightly smaller than the Guangdong large-fruited variety. Fruit drop is serious when the fruit is young, but generally the fruit is not easy to fall when it grows to 2 cm long. The fruit matures into a light golden yellow color. There are two types: fist fruit and open hand fruit, and they vary in size. It has good cold resistance and is the main variety for open field planting. The phenomenon of alternate years is not obvious and the yield is high.

Large bergamot fruit

The tree is tall, but slightly smaller than the Nanjing species. The branches are green-gray-brown and there are fewer twigs. Because the long branches tend to droop, a trellis is needed for outdoor planting. The leaves are large and dark green, with dark purple tips. The flowers are larger and purple-red, slightly larger than the Nanjing variety. The fruits are also slightly larger, usually gathered in a fist shape. The phenomenon of alternate bearing is quite obvious, the cold resistance is poor, the yield is average, and it is rarely used in production.

Small-leaved bergamot fruit (potted bergamot)

The plant is short, with light gray stems, white flowers, and small, fist-shaped fruits. It matures early and has a strong aroma. It has poor cold resistance and low yield, and is mostly used as potted plants.
