The difference between Dieffenbachia and Silver Queen

The difference between Dieffenbachia and Silver Queen

Differentiation in growth habits

Silver Queen likes to grow in a warm and humid environment. It cannot tolerate cold weather or drought. The soil suitable for the growth of Silver Queen is mostly a mixture of rotten dead branches and leaves and sand. Silver Queen can grow normally in a dark environment, and if the temperature can be maintained at around 20 degrees, it can grow well.

Dieffenbachia is also suitable for growing in a humid environment. The climate must be warm and suitable, and the growing environment must have good ventilation. Dieffenbachia cannot withstand the test of severe cold and heat, so it is usually placed in a place with reasonable light indoors. When cultivating, it is best to use soil mixed with rotten dead branches and leaves.

Leaf shape distinction

The leaves of Silver Queen are relatively narrow and long, usually nearly oval in shape, and remain dark green all year round. The leaves of the evergreen are dark green, relatively large, and almost round in shape, and are usually connected to stems. Silver Queen does not have a stem, the leaves grow directly from the base.

Leaf color distinction

The leaves of Silver Queen are lighter in color, with alternating gray and green on the surface. The gray area is larger than the green area. There is a green stripe in the middle of the leaf, and then there are green stripes forked on both sides of the leaf. The rest of the leaf is gray-green. The leaves of the evergreen are dark in color, and the surface seems to be covered with a layer of oil. The middle of the leaf is white and is surrounded by green, making it quite eye-catching. Through these, you can effectively distinguish between evergreen and silver queen.
