Cultivation methods and precautions of Dendrobium officinale

Cultivation methods and precautions of Dendrobium officinale

1. Breeding methods:

1. Use pots and plant

The material requirements for the container are not high, plastic or ceramic can be used, because Dendrobium nobile likes moisture and the roots need a certain degree of air permeability, so the flowerpot needs to have holes. After placing broken tiles or bricks at the bottom of the pot, use small bamboo sticks to separate the roots of the seedlings and fix them, then pour in the soil, and add appropriate amounts of clean bark blocks soaked in clean water and other materials.

2. Site selection

Dendrobium bouquets need to be placed in a cool and ventilated place. They should be placed in a sunny place in winter and avoid direct sunlight in the other three seasons. However, they need scattered light and can be placed in a bright place at a certain distance from the window or balcony.

3. Watering and moisturizing

Just spray the water directly on the leaves. Avoid pouring water directly into the pot in the early stages of cultivation. When the plant is growing well, water it once a day. In hot summer or dry weather, spray water on the surrounding ground to keep it moist. With the arrival of the dormant period, reduce the watering frequency in winter. A sprayer can be used for moisturizing, but when watering in this way, the amount and frequency of spraying should be reduced.

4. Notes on fertilization

When the Dendrobium officinale is growing flower buds, foliar fertilizer needs to be applied to ensure growth. The application concentration and method are the same as those for general potted flowers. In addition to foliar fertilizer, fertilizer is also needed during the sprouting, Qingming, and Beginning of Winter periods.

5. Prevent and control pests and diseases

For Dendrobium officinale, around May is the peak period for diseases and pests such as black spot disease, anthracnose, sooty mold, snails and Philippine shield scale. We must pay attention to prevention and ensure timely discovery and control.

2. Notes:

There are two points that require special attention when growing Dendrobium arborescens: first, Dendrobium arborescens is an aerial root plant, which has high requirements for root air permeability, so the potting material cannot be too solid and must be ventilated and breathable; second, Dendrobium arborescens has high requirements for water. Water shortage and overhumidity are not conducive to its normal growth and development and may even lead to death. Therefore, you must be particularly careful to control the humidity when growing Dendrobium arborescens.
