Characteristics of sunflowers

1. Flowers

We can see it in many places in China. It is worth mentioning that its flowers contain many colors, so if you like this plant, you can try to plant all its colors together. According to statistics, it has a total of nine colors, including five red, two yellow, and one white and one green. In addition, its name may have a lot to do with the flower, because it blooms in response to sunlight and closes in the morning and evening. The scent of this flower is not strong, but it still has a light flavor. It is open for a very long time, usually between May and November. Of course, if it is in Lingnan, it is different, here it is open all year round.

2. Leaves

There are mainly two types of it, and the biggest similarity between the two is that their branches are relatively lush. One of them is called Portulaca grandiflora. Its leaves are also very dense. The shape of the leaves is thin and cylindrical, sometimes curved. The length is not ideal, only one or two centimeters. In addition, it is hairless. The other is called Purslane. Its leaves are alternate and come in two shapes: one is cylindrical and linear, and the other looks like bricks and is in the shape of a narrow needle. The former can also be used as medicine to treat detoxification and reduce swelling, while the latter can treat knife wounds by placing its leaves on the wound.

3. Seeds

Its seeds also have their own characteristics, but the seeds of two different varieties grow differently. The former is smaller, more numerous, and kidney-shaped. It comes in a variety of colors, including lead gray, gray-brown, and gray-black, and has a pearly luster on the surface. The seeds of the latter are also not large and have few colors, only dark brown. One thing they have in common is that they have small tumors on their surface.

4. Reproduction

There are two main ways of propagation: one is sowing and the other is cuttings. In addition, it has a strong adaptability to soil and can grow well even in particularly barren places. Of course, it also has its favorite environment, which is sandy soil, provided that its drainage function is better.
