1. Iris

Iris, commonly known as iris, is an ornamental flower with quite beautiful flowers. The rhizome is creeping or tuberous, some are slender and some are thick. Its floral leaves are mostly basal, arranged in two rows, and are sword-shaped, strip-shaped or filamentous in appearance, with parallel veins. Its flower stems basically grow directly from the ground, without obvious above-ground stems. The outward-curved perianth is petal-like, with a long or short tube; the style is branched and enlarged, petal-like and colored, spreading outward and covered with stamens; the ovary is inferior, with many ovules, and the fruit is a capsule.

Iris orchid is a type of orchid. With inconspicuous short stems. It has 5-6 leaves that are close to the base, forming two overlapping rows, flattened and thickened on both sides. Its special feature is that its peduncle protrudes directly from the leaves, with a length of about 20-25cm, which is more than 1 times the length of the leaves; its petals are ovate-oblong, with irregular serrated teeth on the edges; the outline of the lip is broadly ovate or nearly semicircular, with inconspicuous three lobes.

Iris orchid belongs to the genus Iris in the family Orchidaceae, order Asparagus, class Magnoliaceae, while iris belongs to the genus Iris in the family Iris, class Liliales, class Monocots. Apart from having similar names and belonging to the same plant kingdom, the two are almost completely different.
