How many kilograms of soybean seeds are needed per acre?

In soybean cultivation, determining a reasonable seeding rate is crucial to achieving high yield and high efficiency. However, the amount of soybean seeds required per acre is not fixed but is affected by many factors. So how many kilograms of seeds are usually sown per acre? Let’s learn more about it below.

How many kilograms of soybean seeds are needed per acre?

The soybean planting amount requires about 10-12 kilograms of seeds per acre. But this number may be affected by many factors such as planting methods , varieties, soil conditions, and climatic factors. Therefore, the specific sowing amount needs to be adjusted according to actual conditions.

How to sow soybeans correctly?

1. Sowing time

Soybeans can be planted in all seasons, specifically in spring from late April to early May, summer from mid-June to early July, autumn from mid-to-late September, and winter around November. It depends on the local planting conditions and climatic conditions.

2. Sowing Method

1. Seed treatment

Soybean seeds should be screened before sowing, and healthy and plump seeds should be selected. Seeds can be dried in the sun to increase germination rate and reduce pests and diseases. Use seed dressing agent for seed coating to prevent pests and diseases and increase germination rate.

2. Soil preparation

Choose soil with good irrigation and drainage and deep soil layer. Before sowing, spread fertilizer evenly on the ground and turn it deep into the soil for each acre of land. Specifically, it should include 1-2 tons of high-quality farmyard manure, 10-13 kg of phosphate fertilizer, 3 kg of potassium sulfate, and 1 kg of zinc fertilizer, and then prepare the land.

3. Sowing method

There are three main types of sowing: row sowing, hole sowing and spot sowing. Row sowing is to sow seeds into a strip of seedlings with a width of about 5-10 cm; hole sowing is to plant seeds in holes at a certain distance on the seedling strip, sowing 4-6 seeds in each hole, and leaving about 3 plants in each hole after emergence; spot sowing is to plant single or double seeds at equal distances on the seedling strip according to density requirements. This is a precision sowing method.

4. Sowing depth

The sowing depth of soybeans is generally 3-5 cm. After sowing, the seeds are compacted and the thickness of the soil covering them is about 2 cm.

5. Planting spacing

The spacing between soybean plants is generally 20-30 cm, and the spacing between rows is generally 40-60 cm, which is related to factors such as variety, soil fertility, and planting method.

6. Notes

(1) It is strictly forbidden to sow seeds after rainfall or in wet soil, so as to avoid the seeds absorbing too much water and swelling and failing to germinate, or causing root rot and seedling death.

(2) After sowing, the soil should be compacted in time to ensure that the seeds are in close contact with the soil, which is conducive to germination and growth.

In general, the amount of soybean seeds required per acre is not fixed, but is affected by many factors. Generally, it can be adjusted reasonably according to actual conditions. In addition, master the correct sowing time and method to ensure that the sown seeds can germinate smoothly and grow into healthy plants.
