The Difference Between Jasmine and African Jasmine

1. Leaf Difference

Jasmine leaves are opposite, simple, papery, and obovate, elliptical, ovate-elliptical, or round in shape, with rounded or blunt ends. The leaves are 4 to 12 cm long, 2 to 7 cm wide, and green.

The leaves of African jasmine are also opposite, up to 15 cm in length, broadly ovate or oblong, with a pointed tip, thick and leathery, and dark green in surface.

2. Flower Differences

Jasmine flowers are fragrant, borne in terminal cymes, usually with 3 flowers, sometimes single or with up to 5. Flowers white, 0.7 to 1.5 cm.

Each African jasmine flower has five petals, which are umbrella-shaped and clustered at the top of the branch. The flowers are ivory white and about 6 cm long. The flowers are slightly fragrant.
