The difference between Huangshan Magnolia and Yuchuntang

1. Leaf Difference

The leaves of Huangshan Magnolia are elliptical to obovate-elliptical, and the leaves are membranous.

The leaves of Yuchuntang are obovate or elliptical-ovate, 10 to 18 cm long and about 4 to 10 cm wide. The tips of the leaves are sharp, the bases of the leaves are wedge-shaped, and there are soft hairs along the veins on the back.

2. Flower Differences

Huangshan Magnolia blooms at the top of the branches in early spring. The flower has six petals. The outer tepals are narrow and lanceolate, yellow-green in color, and the two petals inside the flower are white with purple-red at the base.

The flowers of Yuchuntang bloom before the leaves. The flowers are large and bell-shaped. There are 6 petals, which are oblong-obovate, 8 to 10 cm long, purple-red or purple on the outside and white on the inside, and the filaments and carpels are purple-red.
