How to identify Buddleja

1. Blades

The leaves of Buddleja are opposite, papery, narrowly elliptic, ovate-lanceolate or oblong, about 4-19 cm long, 2-8 cm wide, with acuminate or acute apex, cuneate or broad cuneate base, usually entire margin, rarely serrated, dark green with stellate hairs above, and light green beneath.

2. Flowers

The flowers of Buddleja are numerous and dense, in a cyrse panicle, with short pedicels, lanceolate bracts, bell-shaped calyx, and corolla color that turns purple, later turning white or light yellowish white. The throat is orange-yellow and the inside is yellow. The corolla tube is cylindrical, the anthers are oblong, and the stigma is club-shaped.
