Difference between Tartary Buckwheat and Buckwheat

1. Difference of blades

Buckwheat leaves are broadly triangular, about 2-7 cm long, with nipple-like protrusions along the veins on both sides. The lower leaves have long petioles, while the upper leaves are smaller and have short petioles. Buckwheat leaves are triangular or ovate-triangular, similar in size to the former, with a gradually pointed tip and a heart-shaped base.

2. Differences in stems

Buckwheat stems are erect, about 30-70 cm long, and green or slightly purple in color. Buckwheat is slightly taller than the former, up to about 90 cm, and its stems are green or red.

3. The difference between fruits

The achenes of buckwheat are long oval and dark brown in color. Buckwheat achenes are oval in shape and dark brown in color.
