When to plant colored calla lilies and how to prepare the soil

1. Planting time

Planting of colored calla lilies can be done in spring or autumn, and general varieties can be planted in late August. Try to avoid hot summers and cold winters. However, it can be planted if the temperature is suitable. If it is in a greenhouse and the temperature is guaranteed to be above 18°C, it can be planted all year round. When planting, be sure to choose the right time to help it take root.

2. Soil preparation method

Colored calla lilies are suitable for growing in breathable and well-drained planting soil. The soil used for planting should preferably be slightly acidic soil containing humus. When preparing the soil, you can mix garden soil, peat soil, leaf mold and wood ash in a ratio of 3:3:2:1. If you have decomposed sawdust at home, you can add some of it and mix it evenly before use.

3. Notes

The soil used must be disinfected in advance, because there may be pathogens or insect eggs in the soil. If it is not sterilized, the bulbs of the plants will be harmed after planting. You can use medicine to disinfect it, or you can put it under strong sunlight and expose it to the sun for a few days to disinfect it well.
