How to grow boxwood

How to grow boxwood

1. Breeding methods

1. Soil: Boxwood grows well in loose and fertile soil. Generally, sandy loam with good drainage is selected, and a certain amount of base fertilizer can be added to provide certain nutrients for its growth.

2. Sunlight: Boxwood needs a certain amount of light, but it cannot be exposed to the scorching sun. Usually put it in a sunny place in the morning and in a cool place in the afternoon, and it will receive sunlight for half a day.

3. Watering: Boxwood needs to grow in a humid environment, and watering should be based on temperature changes. When the temperature is above 20℃, the soil and branches and leaves need to be kept moist. When the temperature is between 10-20℃, you can spray appropriately.

4. Fertilization: Natural fertilizer should be used as the main fertilizer. Do not use high-efficiency fertilizer, which will burn the roots. Apply germination fertilizer in spring, heat-resistant fertilizer in summer, and heat-retaining fertilizer in winter to ensure healthy growth all year round.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Cutting: Cutting is usually carried out in the rainy season. Cut young branches about 10 cm long as cuttings and insert them into soft and fertile soil. They will take root in about 40 days.

2. Layering: Layering is usually carried out in March and April. Press the two-year-old branches into the soil and separate them from the mother plant in the spring of the following year. After transplanting, keep the soil moist.

3. Pest and disease control

1. Diseases: Common diseases are anthracnose and leaf spot, which can be prevented and controlled by spraying with mancozeb solution.

2. Pests: The main pests are scale insects and borers, which can be killed with carbendazim.
