Cultivation methods and precautions of longevity chrysanthemum

Cultivation methods and precautions of longevity chrysanthemum

1. Maintenance methods

1. Soil: Kalanchoe is not very demanding on soil quality. Soil with good air permeability and good drainage can make it grow better. Generally, sandy loam is the most suitable.

2. Water: It does not require much water, generally just keep the soil moist. Too much water can cause the roots to rot, so watering twice a week is sufficient.

3. Nutrients: During its vigorous growth period, fertilize more frequently, about once every half a month. Dissolved compound fertilizers are often used, as sufficient nutrients can promote abundant, bright and beautiful flowering.

4. Light: It likes to grow in an environment with plenty of sunlight. You should pay attention to sun protection under strong light at noon. You can usually put it in a sunny place to absorb light.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Pruning: After planting, the branches and leaves should be properly pruned. Pruning off the withered branches and leaves can reduce the consumption of nutrients, ensure the beauty of the plant's appearance, and avoid infection by diseases.

2. Reproduction: The commonly used method of propagation is cuttings. Kalanchoe has strong rooting ability and the survival rate of cuttings propagation is very high. The time is between March and May. Select a strong fleshy stem and cut it to about five centimeters. Insert it into the seedbed, then sprinkle water and keep it covered with a film. It will take about twenty days for it to take root and sprout.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Leaf shedding: If the plant does not receive enough light or does not see sunlight for a long time, the leaves will fall off and the blooming of flowers will be affected, so sufficient light is very important.

2. Root rot: Do not use too much water when watering. If there is water accumulation in the pot for a long time, it will cause the roots to rot and affect the normal growth of the plant. Root rot should be dealt with immediately, the rotten roots should be removed and disinfected.

IV. Other issues

1. How to survive the winter: Kalanchoe is not resistant to low temperatures. The temperature for cultivation should be controlled above ten degrees Celsius in winter, and it should be placed in a place with good ventilation and light transmittance.

2. Can it be exposed to rain: Chrysanthemum can be exposed to rain. It is fine when it rains lightly, as long as you pay attention to timely drainage. However, when there is heavy rain, it is necessary to provide it with appropriate shelter to prevent the rain from breaking its branches and leaves and affecting its growth.
