Where and how do pineapples grow?

1. Where does it grow?

Many people think it grows on trees, but it doesn't. It is originally a herbaceous plant, and its fruits are gradually formed from the terminal inflorescence, so it grows on the ground.

It has many varieties, currently there are about 70 kinds, and it is one of the more famous fruits in Lingnan. It is now grown in many areas. It has short stems and leaves, many leaves, and most of the leaves have serrated edges, so be careful when touching them to avoid cutting your hands.

2. How does it grow?

Pineapple has strong adaptability, is resistant to barrenness and drought, has relatively few diseases and pests, and is very easy to cultivate. It is a herbaceous plant that grows well in places with sufficient sunlight and water. Usually it will bloom in the winter of the year after planting and bear fruit the following year. Its inflorescence is terminal and will slowly form fruits later. The fruit is a multiple fruit, fleshy, and generally more than 15 cm in length.

3. Growth Environment

It likes a moist, sunny and warm growing environment. When cultivating, it should be planted in a place with good lighting. The quality of the fruit will be better if there is sufficient light, otherwise the growth rate will slow down. However, it is necessary to provide shade when the light is strong, as the leaves and fruits can easily be burned if exposed to the sun. It can grow normally between 15-40 degrees, and it will slow down below 15 degrees.
