How to water Clivia, tips for watering Clivia

1. Watering according to the season

Clivia has different water requirements in different seasons. The plants resume growth in spring, so watering needs to be gradually increased, generally once a day. In summer, the temperature is relatively high, water evaporates quickly, and the soil is more likely to dry out. In addition to watering every day, you should also spray water around to increase the air humidity. If it is rainy, you can stop watering to prevent bacteria from breeding in an overly humid climate. As the temperature drops in autumn, you can reduce the number of waterings to once every other day. It is relatively cold in winter, so watering is usually done once a week.

2. Watering according to dryness and wetness

Although watering according to the season is very fixed, sometimes the amount of water cannot be well controlled due to differences in region and climate. Therefore, it is best to water according to the dryness and wetness of the soil. Although this plant is drought-tolerant, it still needs adequate water during the growing period. Check the soil regularly and start watering when it is half dry. Don't water too much. Keep the soil moist but not wet, in any season.

3. Notes

1. Watering position: When watering Clivia, do not water it from the top of the plant. If water enters the center of the leaves, it will easily cause them to rot. Generally, you should pour water slowly along the wall of the pot. This makes it easier to control the amount of water and avoid watering too much.

2. What kind of water to use: It is best to use magnetized water to water Clivia, but this kind of water is not common. It would be good if you could collect rainwater, river water or snow water. Of course, you can also use pond water, but it is not as good. The worst is tap water. Tap water generally cannot be used directly. It needs to be left for a few days to allow harmful substances to settle and chlorine to evaporate before it can be used for watering.

3. What to do if you water too much: If you water too much, the first thing you should do is to drain the water in time to get rid of the excess water. Then loosen the soil appropriately and keep the environment ventilated so that the moisture can evaporate as soon as possible. If water has been stagnant for a while, the plant needs to be removed from the pot, the roots checked and pruned, and then replanted with dry soil.
