What are the cultivation methods and precautions of cactus?

Cactus cultivation method

Cactus likes a high temperature growing environment. The room temperature during the day in winter needs to be above 20 degrees, and the night temperature needs to be above 5 degrees. In addition, it likes a dry environment, especially in winter, watering should be controlled, otherwise it is easy to cause root rot. Watering should be stopped when the temperature is low, and it should be maintained in a warm room.

Cactus can be grafted in April and May, with the temperature preferably between 20-25 degrees. Select a well-growing cactus plant, cut off the tip, peel off the skin, shave off the bottom of the ball to expose the core, and drill a hole in the core to a depth of one-third of the height of the ball.

Watering method

Cactus can be watered in the early morning in summer, at noon when the temperature is higher in winter, and in the morning and evening in spring and autumn. Do not water from the top when watering. If water accumulates in the sphere for a long time, spots will appear. Water thoroughly each time.

Fertilization method

Before potting or repotting the cactus, you can apply base fertilizer to the soil, such as fully decomposed oil cake, bone meal, chicken and pigeon manure, etc., and apply topdressing according to the growth of the plant. During the peak growth period in spring and autumn, apply decomposed feather hoof horns or oil cake fertilizer water once every half a month.

Pruning methods

Pruning a cactus requires skill. You can cut off its capillary roots, fibrous roots, and tiny lateral roots, leaving only the strong main root. Of course, it is important to avoid pruning the roots of the cactus when it enters a dormant period in winter, otherwise there will be great risks.

Cactus cultivation precautions

Cactus is not cold-resistant. If the temperature is low in winter, it needs to be moved indoors for maintenance. The room temperature should be above 5 degrees. It can be placed in a glass tank indoors to keep warm during the winter, or you can cover the plant with a double layer of plastic bags. At this time, control watering and keep the soil in the pot slightly dry.
