How to grow Calla Lily and how to deal with it after it blooms

1. How to raise

1. Light: Calla lily needs moderate light in its life and is usually placed in a slightly shaded environment. However, during its flowering period, sufficient light must be ensured so that the spathe will appear yellow-white, otherwise it will turn green and affect its ornamental value. Provide 3-5 hours of light per day to prevent the plant from growing too tall.

2. Soil: Calla lily, like most plants, prefers loose and fertile soil, which is generally neutral or acidic. Usually, two parts of pond soil are mixed with one part of leaf mold, and an appropriate amount of superphosphate is added as base fertilizer. This can provide a good growth environment and help the development of the plant.

3. Watering: Calla lily likes a humid climate. During its growing period, it must be watered frequently to maintain a certain level of soil humidity. It should be noted that when watering, do not pour water into the leaf sheath, otherwise it will easily cause rot. In addition, there should be no stagnant water, which is not conducive to the breathing of the roots.

4. Fertilization: The growth of Calla Lily cannot be separated from sufficient nutrients, so it is necessary to apply fertilizer regularly. Fertilizer can be mostly decomposed bean cake water, chemical fertilizer can also be used, usually once every two weeks. After the plant buds, the amount of fertilizer needs to be increased. This can extend the flowering period and make the plant's flowers larger and more colorful, allowing them to bloom all year round.

2. Post-flowering treatment

After the calla lily blooms, it needs to be pruned and the dead and old branches should be cut off to extend the next flowering period. One month after the flowers fade, the plant will grow new buds, which should be removed appropriately to avoid consuming too much nutrients, which will be detrimental to subsequent growth.
