Cultivation TipsMediumThe soil conditions suitable for thyme growth are relatively simple, but because the leaves are slightly fleshy, its growth is easily affected by a humid environment, so it is necessary to ensure that the planting soil has good drainage properties. It is recommended to use peat soil as the cultivation soil, and other media that are conducive to drainage should be added to account for about 20% of the potting soil. MoistureFor the same reason as in media selection, special attention should be paid to the amount of water when watering. Avoid maintaining a moist state for a long time, as it will have many adverse effects on the growth of the roots; it is also not conducive to maintaining good aeration of the medium. FertilizerThe slow growth of thyme requires less fertilizer. If peat soil is used for cultivation, you can add 5 to 10 percent of decomposed organic fertilizer. When new buds are developing, liquid fertilizer diluted 1000 times can be applied as appropriate (between 10-15 days). When the plants enter a period of growth decline in summer, fertilization can easily cause the roots to rot and die. The plants should be moved to a shaded place for fertilizer-free cultivation. |
