Soft water (rainwater, mineral water, in general water with low mineral content)

Start Planting

Because the seeds of the Venus flytrap are very small, generally 1mm , you have to be very careful.

Generally speaking, Venus flytrap seeds have a short shelf life, so it is best to buy those that were collected no more than three months ago.

Before planting, soak the seeds in soft water for about 48 hours to increase the germination rate.

If the sphagnum moss you bought is dry, you can soak it in water first.

Stuff the soaked sphagnum moss into a disposable packing bowl and sprinkle the seeds directly onto the clean surface of the substrate.

Be sure to maintain high humidity. If the north is relatively dry, you can directly use the pot immersion method to plant, supply water at the bottom of the pot, or directly keep it in a covered place to maintain 100% humidity, and place it under bright scattered light. It will generally germinate in about 1 month.

The radicle secretly grew out and inserted into the sphagnum moss.

Soon after, the cotyledons of the Venus flytrap appeared. Isn’t this little clip cute?

Special attention

1. The water used during planting must be soft water. It is water with low mineral content. (Rainwater, mineral water, purified water)

2. Venus flytraps need light to germinate, so never water after sowing seeds on the sphagnum moss, as this will wash the seeds into a dark place. The seeds will just stay dormant and never germinate.
