Geranium monthly maintenance tips

Geranium monthly maintenance tips

Geranium January

Place the plant in a sunny place and increase the temperature appropriately to avoid frost damage. Water the plants when the weather is sunny, at noon, and do not use cold water or snow water. It is best to let tap water reach room temperature before use.

Geranium in February

Starting from February , apply thin liquid fertilizer once every two weeks and increase the amount of watering appropriately. When the weather is clear, you can open the windows for ventilation, but be careful in windy weather and do not let the cold wind blow directly.

Geranium in March

March is suitable for cuttings, pruning, selecting mother plants that bloom frequently and grow well, and cutting off strong branches. Cut off the excess branches and leaves, place them in a cool place for a week, and then plant them in the soil after they wilt slightly. (I haven't learned the cutting method yet, haha, here is the detailed cutting guide, teaching you the cutting method of geranium ) Some varieties will bloom in April . When pruning, do not cut off several flower buds to affect flowering.

Geranium in April

Hello April! Many geraniums bloom in April . During this period, please pay attention to replenishing water and avoid placing them in direct sunlight. Fertilize once a week, mainly with phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. In addition, April is also a good time for sowing. You can buy some seeds at the market and plant a pot of geranium yourself.

Geranium in May

May is the peak flowering period of geraniums, so it is necessary to do a good job of watering, fertilizing and pest control. Also pay attention to the blooming of flowers. Some flowers bloomed early and have begun to wither. Cut off the dead flowers in time.

Geranium June

In June, the flowering period of geranium is basically over, and short pruning can be carried out at this time. Do not water it for a week after pruning, and wait until the cut ends become dry before watering. By late June , the temperature will gradually rise, and the plant will enter a semi-dormant state. Keep it in a semi-shaded place and reduce watering and fertilizing.

Geranium July

Water every morning and evening, water when dry and drain in time after rain. Because the plant is now in a semi-dormant period, try to control the water as much as possible, but do not let it become too dry.

Geranium in August

A second pruning can be done in August . The plant can be repotted once a year at this time. Take the plant out of the soil, cut off some of the fibrous roots appropriately, and cut off the excess sprouts on the top.

Geranium September

Cuttings can be carried out in autumn, and the cutting method is the same as in spring. After entering September , apply thin liquid fertilizer about once every 10 days, and avoid splashing fertilizer on the leaves.

Geranium October

In October , geraniums begin to bloom again. Be sure to place it in a sunny place sheltered from the wind to prevent cold air from invading. Move into the greenhouse in the second half of the month and pay attention to ventilation.

Geranium November

When caring for the plant indoors, pay attention to ensuring sufficient sunlight, control watering, apply fertilizer in time, increase ventilation, and prevent the occurrence of diseases and pests.

Geranium December

As long as the room temperature is not lower than 5 ℃, do not water until the soil is dry. Observe the blooming of flowers in time and remove dead flowers and leaves in time.
