How to control the flowering period of baby's breath

Preparation for regulating the flowering period of Gypsophila paniculata

In autumn, healthy mature plants will become more active in growth after being exposed to low temperatures. If the temperature is lowered appropriately in autumn and winter, the growth rate of baby's breath will slow down. Once the temperature rises, flower buds will form under long-day conditions, and the flower stems will quickly elongate and bloom.

In summer, when the temperature is high, the growth activity of baby's breath will decrease, and it will welcome the winter in a rosette state under the cool autumn and short-day conditions.

If a rosette is formed, the plant's growth activity is extremely low in autumn and winter, making it difficult to bloom. High temperature and long daylight treatment can be used to prevent rosette formation.

Methods for regulating the flowering period of Gypsophila paniculata

Method 1: Cultivate it at a temperature of 15 to 25 degrees Celsius and with more than 16 hours of sunshine (preferably late at night), and it will bloom in autumn and winter or early spring.

Method 2: From mid- July , refrigerate the plants at 2 to 3 ℃ until mid- September when they are fixed. Then, cultivate them under long-day conditions at a temperature above 8 ℃. They will bloom in December . Alternatively, use drugs to promote flowering, such as spraying with aminopurine ( 300 × 10-6 ) or gibberellin ( 300 × 10-6 ), which can significantly promote the elongation and flowering of baby's breath.
