How to breed forget-me-not

How to breed forget-me-not

Seeding method

Sowing can generally be carried out from September to January, but forget-me-not seeds are photophobic, so after sowing the seeds, they should be covered with a little soil to maintain moisture.

Sow the seeds at room temperature of 15℃. Try to spread the seeds evenly and don't let them gather together, otherwise it will affect germination. After sowing, water, shade, and keep moist. The seeds will germinate in 10 to 15 days. Be careful not to let the temperature exceed 25°C after sowing. Frequent ventilation is required after germination. The seedlings can be transplanted when they grow more than 5 leaves.

Colonization method

Forget-me-not likes dry environment and deep, loose, breathable, slightly alkaline sandy loam. It is best to evenly turn well-rotted organic fertilizer and slow-release compound fertilizer into the soil after application. After planting, the distance between plants should be 30 to 40 cm, and the planting depth should be such that the substrate is slightly higher than the root neck. The temperature should be kept below 15°C for 2 months after planting to help the plants pass through the vernalization stage and facilitate normal growth and flowering.

Pull the net fixed

If forget-me-nots are not controlled, they will grow very fast. To ensure that they grow lush and not messy, you need to use nets to fix the branches. The specific method is to use 25 cm × 25 cm or 30 cm × 30 cm nylon nets to set up a layer of net frame 20 to 30 cm from the ground before the plant sprouts. For small potted plants, just build a stand.
