How does Bear's Paw spend the summer?

How does Bear's Paw spend the summer?

Reduce watering

Bear's Paw enters a dormant period in summer and its roots stop functioning. If the soil is wet, the roots will easily rot. Therefore, the amount of water should be gradually reduced when the dormancy period is approaching, and the amount of watering should be reduced to the minimum in midsummer. As for how much water to water, it depends on the soil and make sure the surface of the potting soil is dry rather than wet.

Sprinkling water to cool down

Bear's Paw cannot be kept in a stuffy environment in summer. Water should be sprinkled around the plant frequently at noon in midsummer to lower the temperature. If placed in a shaded place on the windowsill, water it more frequently, but be careful not to spray the water on the leaves to avoid burning the leaves.

ventilation

In summer, we turn on the air conditioner and close the doors and windows at home. You won’t feel hot, but the plants will easily grow poorly in such a cold environment. Long-term lack of wind and the radiation from electrical appliances in the home will affect the growth of Bear’s Paw. It is recommended to place the Bear's Paw near the window and open the window frequently for ventilation.

Shelter from the rain

Many succulent lovers will place the Bear's Paw on an open balcony to provide shade for it, and let it irrigate naturally when it rains. This is absolutely not allowed. Potted plants are not like those grown in the field, and water cannot be drained away, which will cause root rot. Especially in rainy places, if the bear's paw is exposed to rain for a long time, it will die quickly!

On rainy days, it is best to place the Bear's Paw outdoors in a sheltered area for ventilation, but be sure not to let it get wet.

Shade

Shading is very important in summer. Bear's Paw can carry out weak photosynthesis during hibernation, but the intensity of sunlight cannot be too strong, nor can it be completely shaded. The short-term photosynthesis in summer helps the plant accumulate nutrients and lays the foundation for growth after dormancy.
