May succulent care: light

"Summer-type" succulents such as Huishan, Jiaxie, and Leishen of the Agavaceae family, Longwangqiu and Jinque of the Cactaceae family, and "intermediate-type" succulents such as Sunset Goose and Huoji of the Sedum family can be placed outdoors in a sunny place for maintenance, which can make the plants strong and colorful.

"Intermediate" varieties such as Jade Dew, Winter Constellation, and Zuikaku of the Aloe family can be appropriately shaded to prevent strong sunlight from burning the leaves and affecting growth, but they should not be too shaded to prevent the plant from becoming loose due to lack of light, and the leaves becoming brittle and easily broken. "Winter types" such as Lithops, Vientiane, Jade Fan, and Snow Lotus can be kept in a place with bright light but no direct sunlight.

Make sure that the plants placed indoors are well ventilated to avoid the stuffy environment from damaging your favorite succulents. When growing outdoors, avoid long-term rain, otherwise water will accumulate in the soil and cause root rot.

May succulent care: watering

For varieties that are in the growing period, the soil should be kept moist. If the potting soil is dry and water-deficient for a long time, the plant will not die, but its growth level will be slow or even stop growing. The leaves will shrink and become dull, which will seriously affect its appearance.

As for the "winter type" succulents such as Lithops, Imperial Jade, Snow Lotus, Dongyun, Vientiane, and Jade Fan that are about to go dormant, although the growth of the plants has not completely stopped, it is very slow and the water required is not much, so you need to control watering appropriately and keep the soil in the pot half dry.

Plants of the genus Haworthia in the Aloe family and some varieties of cactus have certain requirements for air humidity. When the environment is dry, water the plants in time to increase the air humidity.

May succulent care: fertilization

For growing "summer type" succulents, you can fertilize them according to the variety; for "winter type" succulents that are about to go dormant, you should stop fertilizing them. In short, apply more fertilizer to fast-growing plants, and less fertilizer or even no fertilizer to slow-growing plants.

Succulent Care in May: Pests and Diseases

The climate in May is suitable and various pests begin to become active. It is necessary to be prepared for pest control: timely ventilation, prevention of abnormal lesions on plants caused by pathogens, and other physiological diseases. Once lesions are found, spray pesticides in time to kill them to avoid expanding the infection.
