How to take cuttings

Preparation

Cuttings are usually carried out in early spring or early summer. Last year's branches and tender branches are used as cuttings. The cuttings are required to be 10-15 cm long and have 2-3 nodes.

Potting soil generally requires loose, fertile, well-drained, and humus-rich soil. It can be made by mixing garden soil, leaf mold, and decomposed chicken manure in a ratio of 6:3:0.5.

Specific steps

Wet the seedbed first to avoid damaging the cuttings.

Place the cuttings in a shady place to air dry. After the latex on the incision is completely dry, insert them into the sand bed. The cutting depth should be one node into the soil, otherwise the survival rate will be relatively low.

Water thoroughly after planting so that the cuttings fit tightly with the soil.

It will take 45-50 days for the plant to take root at 20℃, and then it can be transplanted.

Moisture

After cuttings, before the cuttings take root, spray to reduce water evaporation of the cuttings. Under shade conditions, spray the cuttings 2-3 times a day.

The lower the temperature on rainy days, the less often you spray, or you can choose not to spray.

The amount of spraying should be controlled. Excessive spraying will cause the cuttings to be infected by pathogens and rot.

temperature

The most suitable growth temperature for yellow canary is 20℃-30℃. If the temperature is lower than 20℃, the cuttings will grow difficult and slowly. Therefore, if the temperature is low after cuttings, you can wrap the flower pot or container with the cuttings with film to keep them warm.

If the temperature is high after cuttings, the cuttings are easily infected by bacteria and rot, so the cuttings should be shaded, with 50%-80% of the light blocked. At the same time, spray the cuttings, spray more on sunny days when the temperature is high.

illumination

After cuttings, the cuttings cannot do without sunlight, but the stronger the light, the higher the temperature inside the cuttings, the more vigorous the transpiration of the cuttings, and the more water consumed, which is not conducive to the survival of the cuttings.

After cuttings, 50%-80% of the light must be shaded. After the roots grow out, the shading net can be opened.
