Can roses be hydroponically cultivated?

Can roses be hydroponically cultivated?

Is it possible

Rose has a strong regeneration ability and is a good hydroponic flower material. Moreover, hydroponics has many advantages that soil cultivation does not have. The method of hydroponic rose cultivation is simple, the survival rate is high, and it is not restricted by time. You can cut and plant roses after the flowers fade. The roses that are successfully inserted into water are clean and beautiful, and are suitable for being placed on desks and other places for viewing.

Hydroponics Method

After the rose has faded, cut off the remaining flowers and let the branches grow for a few days. Wait until the first axillary buds on the branches grow thicker and accumulate nutrients. Then cut cuttings from 3 nodes, remove the petioles on the bottom layer, use a sharp blade to cut the surface of the bottom bud into an inclined surface, and immediately insert them into a prepared bottle filled with clean water. The cuttings can be inserted 1/3 to 1/2 into the water.

To reduce water evaporation from the leaves, some leaves can be cut off. New roots are more likely to grow from the incision if kept away from light, so a brown bottle should be used. If brown is not available, you can wrap the bottle with a layer of black plastic film. Place the vase on a south-facing windowsill and keep it out of direct sunlight.

Water culture

When the temperature is high, change the water once a week. When the temperature is between 15-25℃, it only takes about 20 days for roots to grow. When the young roots grow to 1-2 cm long, they can be transplanted into pots. Because the young roots grow in water, in order to help them adapt to the environment, water them once a day when they are first transplanted, and then gradually reduce the amount. After shading for a week, it can be exposed to sunlight in the morning and evening and it will survive.
