How to raise millet star in winter

How to raise millet star in winter

Pot soil

In fact, the potting soil has been determined as early as spring. If it is not chosen properly, do not make major changes in winter, otherwise it will affect the growth of millet star. When growing indoors in winter, try to keep the soil in the pot dry. If the soil has poor air permeability, try to place it in a well-ventilated place for maintenance. After experiencing the hot summer, don't fall in the winter.

illumination

Millet star needs plenty of sunlight to grow, and there is only so much sunlight in winter, so there is no need to block it. Just place it near a window with plenty of sunlight. Winter is the season when millet star is prone to growing tall. Once there is insufficient light, the distance between the leaves increases, which cannot be compensated by just a little sunlight.

temperature

In winter, when the temperature drops to around 10℃, move the millet plant indoors for maintenance in time. Keep the temperature above 5°C (the temperature at home is generally around 15°C). On cloudy days, try not to place the plant near a cold window.

The minimum indoor temperature cannot be lower than 2℃, otherwise the leaves of millet star will be frostbitten and the growth points on the leaves will die, affecting germination. However, new buds and side branches will appear after winter.

Water and fertilizer

Cut off water, you must cut off water. Although millet is still growing in winter, you must not water it. A kind of protection for millet star by keeping the potting soil dry.

Appropriate fertilizer can be applied in winter. You can use dilute liquid fertilizer, or preferably granular fertilizer. But if the temperature is too low, stop fertilizing.
