Planting conditionsSince morning glory is native to tropical regions, it likes warmth, dislikes cold and is afraid of frost. It grows very slowly when the temperature is low and requires an environment with plenty of sunlight. Most species are not very demanding on the number of hours of sunshine, but the fish flower morning glory will only bloom when the sunshine is less than 12 hours. It is not very demanding on soil, but grows well in fertile and loose soil. The thousand-grain weight of the seeds of Pinnatifida is about 139, and the seeds can be used for 3 to 4 years. The fruits mature at different times and fall off easily after ripening, so they should be picked as they ripen. PlantingUsing ordinary nutrient soil for seedling cultivation, sowing and cultivating seedlings will allow them to grow well. Use a seedling tray to sow seeds. Cover with about 1.5 cm of fine soil after sowing. Not too thin, otherwise it will be easy for the seed coat to emerge from the soil. Seedlings will emerge 4 days after sowing. It is easy for morning glory to germinate, but the seedlings are often not in a uniform pattern, so the seeds should be carefully selected so that the seedlings are in a uniform pattern. Morning glory seedlings are very afraid of drought. When the drought is slightly severe, they will wither and die. Even watering will make it difficult for them to recover. Special attention should be paid to this when raising seedlings. Because it is a taproot plant, it is best to use a plastic seedling pot with a diameter of 8 cm to grow seedlings, and only transplant the seedlings once, planting one seedling in each container. The seedlings must always be exposed to sufficient light during the seedling stage. If the seedlings are large and the vines are entangled, they should be separated as soon as possible and the seedling pots should be moved a certain distance if necessary. Cultivation managementMorning glory should be transplanted after the last frost. In areas where the night temperature is still relatively low, early transplanting is generally not recommended. Morning glory has a strong ability to self-seed. If you don’t care about the early or late flowering, you can use self-seeded seedlings in the second year of cultivation. However, due to the lack of seed selection and late germination, the greening effect is poor. Since morning glory grows rapidly, sufficient base fertilizer should be applied, spread evenly, and deep plowed. Dig holes for planting, remove the plastic seedling pots, plant the seedlings in the holes, one plant per hole, cover the seedling balls with fine soil, then water, and cover the holes with soil. The plant spacing should be larger when cultivating seedlings or in fertile soil; self-sown seedlings emerge late and grow later, so the plant spacing should be smaller. Timely watering can promote the growth of stems and leaves, but be careful not to grow too fast to avoid delaying flowering. In the early stage, manual assistance is used to guide the vines to trellises, fences, trees or other supports. In the middle and late stages, the plant has a strong climbing ability. Apart from shaping it, you don't need to worry about it and let it climb and entwine. Potted plants should be watered and fertilized frequently. |
