What are the ways to reproduce Songmei?

The propagation of Songmei by division

After a period of growth, Songmei will sprout many new buds. When these new buds reach a certain number, they can be divided and propagated. Songmei is generally divided once every 2-3 years.

Division propagation is generally carried out every 2 or 3 years. In spring or autumn, select 6 or 7 or more Songmei plants and take the plants out of the pots. You can gently tap the bottom of the flower pot to pour out the Songmei, but don't hurt the roots. Remove the soil from the roots and carefully separate the Songmei into several plants. After division, trim the roots, then soak them in Benomyl for disinfection, wash them with clean water and dry them, then you can plant them.

Seed propagation of Songmei

The seeds of Songmei are very small, the embryo inside the seeds does not germinate completely, the seed coat is difficult to absorb water, the germination rate is low, and conventional sowing methods cannot germinate, so nutrients must be supplied artificially for them to germinate.

When sowing Songmei, you need to choose uncracked fruits, take out the seeds after disinfection, soak and rinse them with sodium chlorate solution, and then place them in a culture bottle with culture medium for cultivation. Keep the temperature at 25℃ and grow under light after germination.

The seed propagation of Songmei requires a long time. Generally, it may take half a year or even a year from sowing to transplanting.

Tissue Culture of Prunus suzukii

Tissue culture is a way to produce a large number of new plants. The growth buds at the root of the Songmei are removed, disinfected and placed in a culture medium for cultivation. After the root buds grow, the seedlings grow to about 5 cm and can be transplanted.
