The propagation method of Dieffenbachia

The division propagation method of Dieffenbachia

The propagation methods of Dieffenbachia include division, which uses the sprouts from the base of the plant to divide the plants. The time for division is generally in spring, combined with repotting. When operating, take the plant out of the pot, cut off the rhizomes of the stem, apply wood ash to prevent rot, place it in a cool and ventilated place, and wait until the wound is dry and healed before transplanting. Water it thoroughly after planting, but do not water it too much afterwards. It will resume growth in about 10 days.

Cutting propagation method of Dieffenbachia

The high temperature period in summer from July to August is the best time for cuttings of Dieffenbachia. Cut the top 7 to 10 centimeters of the stem of the Dieffenbachia and remove the rest of the leaves to reduce water evaporation during photosynthesis. Apply wood ash or sulfur powder on the incision and insert it in a sand bed or wrap the incision with sphagnum moss. Place it in a semi-shaded place with high air humidity and sunlight intensity of about 50% to 60%. Control the room temperature at 24 to 30℃. It will take about 15 to 25 days for roots to take root after insertion. Wait until new buds sprout on the stem segment and then transplant it into a pot for planting.

Precautions for the reproduction of Dieffenbachia

The soil for growing Dieffenbachia should be fertile, soft and well-drained, and the temperature should be controlled at around 30 degrees during the day and around 25 degrees at night. Moreover, it likes moisture and is afraid of dryness, and is shade-tolerant and afraid of the sun. The soil in the pot should be kept moist. It is best to cultivate it under bright scattered light. Fertilize it during the peak growth period from June to September next year, and the variegated dieffenbachia will grow better and better.
