Are the leaves of the spider plant old and dry? Use this trick and you will be green immediately

The main reason is that the air humidity is too low

Chlorophytum likes a warm and humid environment and cannot tolerate direct sunlight. If the air is too dry, it will easily cause the leaf tips to dry and turn yellow. Below, Huahua will introduce a few tips to teach you how to humidify the spider plant:

1. Bag moisturizing method

When the air is too dry, we can use bagging to keep it moist. First, water the spider plant thoroughly, then spray the leaves to moisten them, and finally cover it with a plastic bag. Poke a few holes at the top of the bag to create a small moist environment inside the bag, which can effectively improve the phenomenon of dry tips of the spider plant.

2. Sitz-pot method

Put a few stones in the tray at the bottom of the spider plant pot to raise the spider plant, and then pour clean water into the tray. The evaporated water can bring higher air humidity to the spider plant and reduce the phenomenon of drying tips of the spider plant.

Too much light

Another major reason why the tips of spider plant leaves tend to dry out is that the light is too strong. Chlorophytum is not a plant that likes strong light. General scattered light is enough. If the light is too strong, the leaves will easily dry out.

Solution:

When caring for spider plants at home, place them in a semi-shaded environment to avoid direct sunlight. Sufficient light can be given in winter, but strong light should be avoided in spring, summer and autumn. For leaves that have turned yellow and dried, they should be cut off in time.

Failure to change the pot in time

Chlorophytum grows very quickly and has a well-developed root system. If it is not repotted for a long time, the nutrients in the soil will be consumed, which will affect the normal growth of the roots and leaves, causing the leaves to dry out.

The pot for the spider plant can be repotted in March every year. When repotting, choose a larger pot, apply a certain amount of organic fertilizer at the bottom of the pot, cut off the withered roots, and then replant it. Water it thoroughly and put it in a cool place for maintenance for a period of time. After the seedlings have recovered, perform normal maintenance.

Insufficient watering

When the soil in the spider plant pot is short of water, the roots cannot supply sufficient water to the leaves, and the leaves are prone to drying out and turning yellow. Therefore, when caring for spider plants, you should always pay attention to the dryness and wetness of the potting soil. The soil needs to be kept moist during the growing season. The temperature is low in winter and the plant is in a dormant state. At this time, you need to control water in time. Otherwise, excessive watering will also cause the leaves to dry and turn yellow.

Unsuitable soil

Chlorophytum has fleshy roots and prefers loose and fertile soil. When the soil is compacted and not breathable, it is easy for the tips of the leaves to dry and turn yellow. Therefore, when planting spider plants, Huahua recommends that you use humus soil, peat soil, sandy loam, or fine sand with some organic fertilizer as the cultivation soil to ensure good growth of the root system.
