The Kalanchoe blooms so much that you can't even see its leaves. How did they do that?

The Kalanchoe blooms so much that you can't even see its leaves. How did they do that?

Tip 1: Dense cuttings

Kalanchoe is generally propagated once a year by cuttings. If you want to harvest large flower bulbs next year, you can do it now, and plant several cuttings in one pot.

Branches after flowering

Cut off several kalanchoe branches that have just finished flowering, cut off the flower buds, and cut the branches into several small sections, each about 5 cm.

Pruning cuttings

Only leave 3-4 leaves on each branch, and cut each leaf in half, and remove the remaining leaves to reduce nutrient consumption.

Oblique wound

Make an oblique cut at the bottom of the branch and place it in a cool and ventilated place for 1-2 hours to allow the wound to dry. If conditions permit, you can also dip it in rooting powder.

Prepare the Soil

Find a larger flowerpot and fill it with soil. There are no specific requirements for the soil, just make it loose. It is best to dry it in the sun or water it with some carbendazim to kill bacteria and avoid root rot.

Water the soil thoroughly to wet it, then cut the longevity branches into the soil. Insert more cuttings to help the plant grow out of the pot. Spray some water on it after cutting, cover it with a film or plastic bag, and place it in a cool and ventilated place to wait for rooting. Spray some water on the soil when you feel it is dry, but there is no need to water it thoroughly.

Tip 2: Topping

After the longevity flower survives and the seedlings grow up, we still need to top and pinch them. The specific steps are as follows:

Less than a week after pinching

When the Kalanchoe seedlings have 6-8 leaves, pinch them off, remove the top 6 leaves (3 pairs), and only keep the bottom 2-4 leaves (1-2 pairs).

Continue to pick

After continuous pinching

Less than a week after pinching, new shoots will grow. When the new shoots grow to 6 leaves, continue pinching until a large flower ball is formed. If you have dwarf carotene at home, you can spray some dwarf carotene. The small sprouts will grow more.

If you trim the flower arrows promptly after the Kalanchoe blooms, it will bloom again in less than a month.

Tip 3: Fertilization and lighting

(Author: Yangguang Lele Source: Walking on Flowers)

1. You can sprinkle some compound fertilizer at the bottom of the Kalanchoe pot. When watering it every week during the growing season, you can put a few grains of compound fertilizer in the water and water the roots with the water.

2. During the summer dormancy period of Kalanchoe, no fertilizer is needed.

3. From October to November, you can spray potassium dihydrogen phosphate on the leaves every week at a ratio of 1:1000, or you can irrigate the roots.

4. Although Kalanchoe is shade-tolerant, it will grow tall and not bloom if there is insufficient light for a long time. Therefore, it must be placed on a south balcony with good light. The better the light, the more flowers it will bloom.
