How to propagate Ageratum

How to propagate Ageratum

Seed propagation of thistle

The seeds of thistle are relatively small, so sowing requires carefulness. Generally speaking, early February is suitable for sowing in the greenhouse, and early April is also suitable for open-field sowing. The culture soil should be half agricultural fertilizer and half garden soil, with a small amount of leaf mold added in. Mix well and then sieve. Put the culture soil into a suitable container, lightly compact the substrate, and then water it thoroughly. After the water seeps in, you can evenly sow the seeds on the wet soil. Note that the depth of the soil should not be too thick, it is best to cover the seeds tightly. Then just keep the soil in the pot moist. The seedlings will emerge in about 10 days. When the seedlings grow two pairs of true leaves, they can be transplanted. Note that the seeds of thistle are small, so the seedlings grow relatively slowly.

Cutting propagation of Artemisia selengensis

The advantage of this method of propagation by cuttings is that it can promote the early formation and flowering of the echinacea plants, and except for the low temperatures in winter, cuttings can be carried out in other growing seasons, and the survival rate is relatively high. First, prepare a healthy large mother plant and place it in a greenhouse in winter. In early spring, select strong and healthy thistle branches and retain 2-4 true leaves. The length of the branches is about 5-6 cm, and the cut is below the node, so you can cut and insert them immediately. The cutting depth is approximately between 1/3 and 1/2 of the length of the cutting. In hot seasons, cuttings need to be placed in a cool and ventilated place after grafting to prevent damage from high temperature and sunlight. Generally, it will take about 10 days for the roots to take shape, and then the seedlings can be transplanted.
