Black rot, waterlogging and leggy growth, the master of succulent cultivation with 10 years of experience will teach you how to grow them, not a single one will be left out!

1. Leaf burns

The summer sun is too strong, especially the midday sun. The flowers feel like they are going to be sunburned. Our succulents are of course also afraid of the sun. If they are exposed to the scorching sun for such a long time, the leaves will easily be burned, just like human skin.

Therefore, friends who keep succulents outdoors in the summer should try to build a shed to provide shade for the succulents at noon, or directly move them to a dark and dim place.

2. Succulent Black Rot

Summer is the most serious season for black rot of succulents. Rain, excessive watering and lack of ventilation can all cause succulents to rot.

To prevent black rot of succulents, watering must be strictly controlled. After watering, place them in a ventilated place and try to avoid rain during the rainy season.

When you find black rot in succulent plants, you can treat it according to the following methods:

Cut off the head, remove any rotten parts, and place in a cool and ventilated place to dry.

After drying, apply some carbendazim on the bottom for disinfection, choose a new cultivation medium, and disinfect the soil with carbendazim before cuttings. This can increase the survival rate.

3. Succulent growth

During the rainy season in summer, the light is weak and the humidity is high. If succulent plants cannot see the sun for a long time, they will grow too tall and affect their appearance.

There are two ways to deal with succulent plants after they grow too long:

One is to cut off the head of the succulent, put the cut off head back into the pot, and keep the remaining part in the pot and maintain it normally. New heads will grow soon, and one pot will become two pots.

One method is to remove the leaves at the bottom of the overgrown succulents, keep the upper part of the branches, and expose them to more sunlight, so that the overgrown parts will become woody and slowly form a beautiful shape.

4. Succulent pests

Summer is also the season when succulents are prone to insect pests, the most common of which are scale insects, aphids, and small black flies! Now Huahua will tell you how to deal with these nasty insects.

The first is scale insects. If you find stains like small black balls on the leaves of succulents, it is most likely infected with scale insects! Once discovered, seek medical treatment immediately. If the scale insect grows into an adult, there will be a layer of shell on the surface, which will make it difficult to treat! .

Method 1: Pinch it to death with tweezers!

Method 2: Use the flower protector to spray and kill!

The second is aphids, which are usually found on the flower arrows of succulents. They are a large black patch and look disgusting. Once found, cut off the flower arrows immediately and then clean the leaves with a cotton swab dipped in water to prevent future troubles!

Finally, Huahua wants to talk about the black flies, which are also a major pest that often troubles flower lovers. After they are discovered, they can be killed with pesticides such as dimethoate and pyrethroids. Pay attention to safety when using them.

5. Succulent water

There are generally the following reasons why succulents become waterlogged:

The temperature is too bad, for example, it is too high. Secondly, the environment changes too much. If you control the water for too long in summer and suddenly water it heavily, the leaves will melt. In addition, the growth conditions are poor for a long time, and the water accumulates slowly, and the leaves will melt.

Therefore, when growing succulents in the summer, you must pay attention to shade, water control, enhanced ventilation, and maintaining a good living environment.

6. Leaves are shriveled

There are generally several reasons why the leaves of succulent plants become shrunken:

One is normal metabolism, which usually occurs at the bottom of succulents. In this case, you can simply pick off the leaves.

The second is that the plant has been lacking water for a long time, the water control is too severe, and the leaves do not have enough water to stay firm. At this time, proper water supplementation is needed.
