1. Soil selection

Fraxinus chinensis bonsai grows best in loose, well-drained and fertile soil. It is generally recommended to use a mixture of leaf mold, garden soil, sand and base fertilizer. Pay attention to planting according to the size of the pile and fill it with nutrient soil.

2. Light and temperature requirements

Fraxinus chinensis likes plenty of sunlight, but should avoid prolonged exposure to strong direct sunlight in summer. You can place it in a well-lit place such as a balcony or windowsill. As for the temperature, there is no need to pay special attention to it. It has strong vitality and can adapt to temperatures ranging from -20℃ to 40℃.

3. Watering tips

The amount of water should be two-fifths of the pot's volume. Make sure the space from the topsoil to the pot mouth is filled, and then water again when no water remains. The frequency of watering should be adjusted according to the season, once every three to four days in spring and autumn, once a day in summer, and once a week or more in winter. At the same time, just pay attention to the principle of "don't water unless the soil is dry, and water thoroughly when you do."

4. Reasonable fertilization

The Fraxinus chinensis bonsai does not require a large amount of fertilizer . During the growing season, you can apply an appropriate amount of well-rotted and diluted organic fertilizer , usually 2-3 times is enough.

5. Trimming and shaping

Fraxinus chinensis is a fast-growing tree species. After one year of cultivation and pruning, most branches can be pruned and stored in the second year. In the initial stage, pruning is mainly done by tying (pulling), supplemented by cutting; in the later stage, pruning is mainly done by cutting, supplemented by pulling, and the pruning technique of first up and then down, suppressing the strong and supporting the weak is adopted.

6. Pest and disease control

For the fraxinus chinensis, except for the alkaline soil and long-term sprinkler irrigation with tap water, after the leaves turn yellow, no other pathogens have invaded and caused harm. Chlorosis should be treated by dissolving ferrous sulfate in water at a ratio of 1:400 and then irrigating the roots. Do this once every week for 3-5 consecutive times and the disease will be cured. In addition, the main insect pests are flower thrips. Once found, they can be controlled with pesticides such as 800 times diluted dimethoate.

The above is an introduction to the cultivation methods and precautions of Fraxinus chinensis bonsai. Mastering these methods and key points can effectively help Fraxinus chinensis bonsai maintain a healthy growth state and show its unique beauty.
