How to Plant Marigold Seeds

How to Plant Marigold Seeds

1. Habits of marigold

Marigolds prefer warm and sunny environments. Its flowers are cold-resistant and drought-resistant. Because they do not have high requirements for soil, they are particularly suitable for transplantation. They grow very quickly and have an insect repellent effect, so they have fewer diseases and pests. Although their requirements for soil are not high, they are not suitable for cultivation in humid and hot environments. Therefore, most of them are sown in the form of seeds first, germinated and grown into seedlings before transplanting.

2. Planting Method

1. A brief introduction to the planting of marigold seeds:

① Choose marigold seeds that should not be bad or rotten, and then plant them in spring. Note that only one seed is needed for each flowerpot.

② Prepare suitable soil for sowing: Soak the potting soil thoroughly the night before and sow directly the next day.

③ Fertilize and water the marigold: Fertilize and water once every 3 days (no need to fertilize before germination).

2. Details to pay attention to when planting marigolds

① When watering marigold potted seeds, make sure the soil is not too dry, but also not too moist. Too much moisture will cause root rot. The amount of fertilizer should also be moderate, otherwise excessive fertilizer will easily cause the branches and leaves of the marigold to grow too lush, and flowering will be delayed, especially the disease resistance will be weakened. Of course, fertilization should be paid attention to after the branches and shoots appear and after transplanting. No fertilization is required before the branches and shoots appear.

② It is best to place the planted potted plants outdoors in a ventilated and sunny place, but if it is summer, you should avoid strong sunlight and place the marigold potted plants in a cool place. Before the sprouts appear, the soil temperature should be maintained at 20℃ to 25℃, and the soil humidity should be above 85%, and the air humidity is the same. The pH of the soil for marigolds should be between 6.2 and 6.5.

③During winter nights, measures should be taken to keep the marigold seed pots warm, such as moving the pots indoors.

Tips

Finally, marigold has several common uses: 1. It can be used as an insecticide, and can be seen in the growing areas to repel flying insects. 2. It can be used as an additive to improve the color of the product. 3. It has medicinal value. The roots of marigold can treat bronchitis and whooping cough, etc. The flowers of marigold have the effect of reducing phlegm and relieving cough, etc.
