How to propagate Dendrobium officinale

How to propagate Dendrobium officinale

Reproduction method

Here we mainly talk about one method of its reproduction, which is cuttings. I believe everyone is already familiar with this method. Friends who have ever raised plants must know this method. In fact, it is a very common method, which is to insert a part of the plant into some substance, let it take root, sprout, and then bloom or bear fruit. Let us talk about the characteristics of this plant here, which makes it suitable for reproduction using this method. We all know that this plant has a relatively slender, fleshy stem with many nodes on it, and buds can grow on the nodes, so it is very suitable for cuttings.

Specific methods

Time selection: The plant can be repotted around the flowering period, and this can be done together with cuttings.

Preparation of substrate: You can choose moss and peat and mix them

Material selection: It is best to choose branches that have not yet bloomed and are stronger.

Specific steps: After selecting the materials, first cut them and cut them into several sections, preferably with two to three sections per section. Then we need to apply some wood ash on the wound to treat it. After the processing is completed, insert the stems section by section into the substrate we prepared earlier, just half of it, and leave the other half exposed. Then, place the plant in a semi-shaded place, preferably a little humid.

Post-management

After inserting, there is no need to water it, just spray some mist to keep it moist. After one to two months, we may observe new buds growing from the nodes and new plants formed by small roots growing from the bottom. At this time, you can pot the new plant together with the old stems.
