Rhizome propagation

Time selection: Generally, we choose early spring, around the end of March, or late autumn for breeding.

Material selection: It is best to choose some one to two year old, thick rhizomes that are free of diseases and insect pests.

Specific steps: After selecting the materials, cut the tender part at the front into several sections, each with 3-4 nodes. Then, wait for a while until the wounds are dry, and then plant the seeds at a distance of 22-24cm between rows, 10-16cm between plants, and 5cm deep. Then, cover with an appropriate amount of soil and water it adequately.

Post-management: After planting, water every three to five days to keep the soil moist. Another thing to note is that if you are planting in late autumn, it is best to cover it with some compost or grass to keep it warm.

Seed propagation

Time selection: When using this method, we usually choose around August because this is the time when the seeds mature.

Material selection: Choose mature and plump seeds.

Specific method: After selecting the seeds, we first need to store them in wet sand. That is to say, we can choose to mix the sand and soil evenly, then mix the seeds in it, and store them in a pit about 30 centimeters in a shady place. Around March of the following year, we can take out the seeds and then sow them evenly with a row spacing of twelve to twenty-five centimeters. After sowing, cover with about 1.5 centimeters of soil. Afterwards, add some water and cover it with a layer of grass to keep it moist.
