The propagation method of water lily

The propagation method of water lily

Division

Time of division

This method is very common among ordinary flowers. The time is generally chosen before germination, basically in March and April. However, if it is a non-cold-resistant water lily, you can choose to operate after mid-May, because this period is not so cold and the possibility of survival after division is relatively high.

Steps of division

The rhizomes should be dug out in advance, and then some fuller new stems should be added to make them into small sections of 8-10cm, but each section must have at least one bud, and then it can be replanted. Place the top bud upwards and bury the lower part into the soil surface. The soil can be buried directly to the bud eye position. If you want to plant more than one, do not plant too many in one pot. 5-7 will be enough, so that they will not lack nutrients at the beginning.

Maintenance after division

After planting, place it in a sunny location to dry it, then water it, but not too much. When the temperature rises, you can add more water, and in summer, the water level can be deeper.

sowing

Sowing method

When the fruit is not yet ripe, you can cover it with gauze so that the seeds can fall directly into the bag after they burst. After collecting the seeds, they must be stored in water because they will be difficult to germinate if stored dry. The best time to operate is March to April. Sow it into fertile clay soil, compact it, and then add water. The water level should be 3-4cm above the soil.

Post-planting care

The temperature should be kept at 25-30℃. If it cannot be reached, the pot can be moved to a sunny location. After this treatment, it will sprout in half a month.
