1. Take the seedsThe main method of reproduction of the peony is through its underground rhizomes, which are white in color and mainly concentrated about 30 cm below the soil. They have strong vitality and can grow to a length of six meters in all directions within two to three years. When propagating, you need to dig out this underground rhizome. Generally, dig the roots in spring or autumn, and cut a rhizome about ten centimeters long for propagation. The roots dug in spring can be planted immediately. Those dug in autumn do not need to be trimmed. Bury the whole root in sand and preserve it. Be sure to keep the storage temperature below zero. 2. PlantingThe peony likes fertilizer, so before planting, you should first spread a layer of decomposed fertilizer as base fertilizer, then mix the garden soil and fertilizer evenly, break up the excess large pieces of soil, and then water it. After the soil layer is completely penetrated by water, place the selected peony rhizomes horizontally into the soil, and then cover the roots with loose and decomposed soil to a thickness of two centimeters. If the temperature conditions of the soil are suitable, it will take root, sprout and grow in about ten days. From a two-year-old mature mother plant, nearly one hundred meters of rhizomes can be dug out every year without adversely affecting the original mother plant. After digging the roots, the mother plant can still sprout and bloom normally. 3. Maintenance and managementThe peony does not have very high requirements for the environment and has a particularly strong survival ability, but if it can be cultivated according to its preferences, the peony will develop better and improve the quality of flowering. This flower prefers long-term sunshine and sufficient fertilizer and water conditions. Therefore, during the cultivation process, pay attention to ensuring sufficient sunshine, timely fertilization and watering. Pay attention to promptly pull the newly grown shoots to the flower rack to prevent the branches from getting entangled and drooping, affecting the appearance. Supplement the areas on the flower rack where the flowers are sparse to improve its ornamental value. The side branches of the climbing peony will grow flower buds, so be careful not to cut off too many side branches when pruning. Just lightly prune in places where the growth is too dense. During the flowering period, it is necessary to remove the remaining flowers in time to prevent excessive consumption of nutrients, which is beneficial to promoting the overall growth and development of the peony and improving the quantity and quality of flowers. |
