How to breed Long Xue Lan

How to breed Long Xue Lan

1. Layering operation

It is usually propagated by layering from May to July every year. The temperature and humidity are higher at this time, so it is the best time. The specific method is: choose an appropriate position on the stem of the plant and cut it into a ring. When cutting, the width of the ring should be about 2 cm and the depth should reach the wood. At this time, you can first use a knife to cut off the epidermis of the ring mouth, then wipe off the external juice with a clean wet cloth, and apply 5000-1000ppm naphthaleneacetic acid aqueous solution on the cortex of the incision, and then tie a white plastic film at the lower end of the incision, straighten it and make it into a funnel shape, and then install the rooting stem made of a mixture of mountain soil and moss to cover the knife edge, and then water it thoroughly, and tie the upper end of the river film tightly. At this time, place the plant outdoors for maintenance to strengthen its fertilizer and water management. Generally, after 30-40 days of cultivation, new roots will appear at the ring-cut site. In September or October, the plant can be separated from the mother plant and transplanted to other places to become a new plant that can grow healthily.

2. Cutting method

The method of cutting propagation is generally carried out in May and June. This period is the peak growth period of Long Xue Lan. Its body is rich in nutrients at this time, so it is easy to survive. Before taking cuttings, you should choose branches with high ornamental value and that are more than two years old and strong. Each of its segments is about 10-20 cm long. When cuttings, the base should be cut into a flat edge, and the leaves should be retained after the upper part is cut horizontally. The upper and lower cuts can be washed with clean water to remove the overflowing juice, and then placed in a cool and ventilated place for a period of time, and then 500-1000ppm of naphthaleneacetic acid is used to soak the base 2-3 cm of the cuttings for 5 seconds, while soaking. For the cuttings of Long Xue Lan, you can use a smaller earthenware flowerpot. The substrate used can be perlite or sterilized sandy soil. Cuttings can be carried out after the plant is potted. Plant one plant in a pot. After completion, water it thoroughly, then place the seedbed in a sunny place and maintain it carefully. About two months later, you can use the cultivated soil to repot and transplant.
