Four tips for caring for American dianthus

Four tips for caring for American dianthus

1. Soil

If you want to grow it well, you must first choose the right soil for planting. Although it does not have particularly high requirements for the soil, it is best to choose loose and fertile soil to meet its nutritional needs. In addition, the soil should have better drainage. Generally, calcareous soil is the most commonly used. This kind of loam is very good in terms of looseness, fertility and drainage.

2. Fertilizer

There are actually no high requirements for fertilizer, but at least you have to meet its growth needs. Generally, when we just plant it, we need to apply farm fertilizer or compound fertilizer to it once, which can fully meet its growth needs. Then when it is established, we need to add fertilizer every three weeks. In addition, before it blooms, we can apply some phosphorus fertilizer to it appropriately, so that it can bloom more flowers. But remember that no matter what kind of fertilizer you apply, it must be in moderation, never too much, otherwise it will have the opposite effect.

3. Lighting

It generally likes high-light weather very much. The longer the light time, the faster it will bloom. So it can be seen that the early or late flowering depends on the light time. If you want it to bloom earlier, let it get more sun. Generally, it is best to keep it in the sun for at least 10 hours a day, so that it can grow better.

4. Pay attention to pests and diseases

When raising it, this point must be taken seriously, especially in summer. Because there is more rain in the summer, it will be prone to some wilt diseases at this time, and this disease should be prevented. Normally, we can keep the ground flatter and drier, and drain it in time after the rain. Even if some individual plants are accidentally infected with this disease, we don't need to treat it because it will not affect the entire group of plants.
