How to plant Jade Fan with leaves

How to plant Jade Fan with leaves

1. Reasons for choosing leaf cuttings

Leaf cuttings are a method of propagation in which the leaves of a plant are separated from the mother plant, inserted into a substrate, and waited for to take root. As for leaf cuttings, it is suitable for plant species with thick leaves. The leaves of the cheeky plant just meet this requirement, so we say that leaf cuttings are mostly used in succulent flowers.

2. Specific methods

Choice of time: Generally, we will choose the period of vigorous growth to operate, when the plants are more energetic.

Material selection: In order to increase the chance of survival, we need to choose strong, disease-free plants as mother plants for leaf cuttings.

Choosing a container: first of all, drainage should be good, and secondly, a smaller one should be chosen, as succulents are generally quite small.

Choice of substrate: This is also important for survival rate, and the choice needs to be made after comprehensive consideration of various factors. Taking into account various reasons such as the drainage of the substrate and the richness of nutrients it contains, we can mix perlite and vermiculite together, which makes it easier to meet the various needs of leaf cuttings.

Specific steps: First, cut off some fleshy leaves with some woodiness from the base of the mother plant. At this time, you cannot directly cut the plants into cuttings. Instead, you have to let them dry in the sun for two or three days until the wounds are dry before you proceed. After drying, insert the leaves into the substrate we have prepared. Then, cover the container with a little plastic sheet to help maintain humidity; in addition, make sure the temperature is appropriate. Make sure all conditions are suitable, and after waiting for about three to five weeks, it will take root, which means it is a success.
