How to propagate Eustoma

How to propagate Eustoma

1. Method of propagation by seeds

1. Method introduction

The method of seed propagation is generally used more frequently in home farming because it is relatively simple and the seeds are very easy to obtain. The soil for breeding lisianthus is generally composed mainly of peat, and then a little perlite and other soil with larger particles is added. This can increase the permeability and air permeability, and then some disinfectant is added for disinfection.

Since lisianthus seeds need light to germinate, there is no need to cover the seeds with a layer of soil after sowing them in the planting soil. Generally, the germination temperature needs to be controlled at around 24 degrees Celsius, and then you can see sprouts from the seeds in about half a month. After germination, it is also necessary to maintain sufficient sunlight and the soil in the pot should be slightly moist but not waterlogged.

2. Put it in the basin

After germination, its growth and development speed is relatively slow compared to other flowers. When it slowly grows four or five leaves, it can be transplanted. You can plant a few more when transplanting, so that the lisianthus will look very beautiful when it blooms. Generally, five lisianthus plants can be planted in a flowerpot with a diameter of about 21 cm. After potting, be sure to apply fertilizer to help its development.

2. Method of propagation using cuttings

1. Select cuttings

When choosing, be sure to pick the stronger ones from the mature plants, which can effectively increase the success rate.

2. Operation method

The commonly used cutting method is the soil cutting method. If the cuttings selected before are very suitable, the survival rate will reach more than 50%. First, choose the planting soil, then use a stick to poke a hole in the soil and put the cuttings in, then cover it with soil and water it thoroughly, and cover the top layer with plastic wrap.

To maintain breathability, poke a few small holes in the plastic wrap and then place it in a lighted place. The film can be removed in about a week, and after a month you will find that the cuttings have taken root. After taking root, sprouts will appear. After a few green leaves grow, you can put it in a pot.

The above are two methods of its reproduction. They are simple and easy. Friends who are interested can plant them themselves.
