How to keep carnation flowers fresh

How to keep carnation flowers fresh

1. Rehydrate in time

Before inserting it into the bottle, you need to remove its leaves and cut off a section of the base of the carnation at a forty-five degree angle and then insert it into the water. This can help the flower stems better obtain water and achieve the effect of timely hydration. However, even if you need to replenish water in time, you cannot spray water on its flowers, otherwise it will not only fail to keep them fresh, but will also cause them to rot.

2. Additives for preservation

To prevent root rot, you can add a small amount of salt or commercially available preservatives to it. After a certain amount of additives enter the water, the water quality will definitely drop a lot, which will be detrimental to the survival of the flowers over time. The water needs to be changed in time to ensure the water quality for its survival. If you want to extend its life, you can keep it in water with a small amount of beer, or add powdered aspirin to increase the amount of nutrients in the water.

3. Reasonable water change

When changing water, it is advisable to shorten the branches appropriately, which can not only maintain stability but also shorten the distance it needs to transport water. Do not soak the leaves of flowers in water, otherwise they will rot. Remember to clean up the fallen leaves of flowers in time. Generally speaking, change the water once a day in summer and once every two days in winter. When the temperature is too high in summer, in order to prevent the water temperature of the water it is soaking in from being too high, you can put a few ice cubes in it.

4. Placement

It is best not to place carnations together with vegetables, fruits and other things that can perform aerobic breathing, and also keep them away from televisions and other radiation-generating machines. It likes a cool environment and cannot tolerate heat. It should avoid direct sunlight in summer, but a certain amount of light must be guaranteed. In winter, be careful not to place it in a windy place, otherwise the flowers will be dried out and the water will be lost quickly, which is not conducive to keeping them fresh.
