Lily cultivation methods and precautions

The maintenance of the fragrant lily is very easy. It is both cold-resistant and heat-resistant, and can grow in both the south and the north. Whether planted in pots or in the ground, fragrant lilies can bloom and bloom again year after year. Let’s learn about the cultivation methods and precautions of fragrant lilies .

1. Watering

Potted lilies do not require frequent watering, and the soil in the pot should be kept dry at ordinary times. During the peak growth period or when the environment is dry, you can increase the amount of water appropriately to create a humid environment, but avoid water accumulation to prevent the bulb from rotting. Just keep the soil moist; overwatering can harm the health of your lily.

2. Soil

The bulbs of fragrant lilies are suitable for planting in dry, deep and slightly acidic soil. Avoid using alkaline or overly sticky soil. For home potted plants, you can evenly mix leaf mold, garden soil and sandy soil to use as planting soil. Potted plants should be placed in a well-ventilated and well-drained place on a daily basis to facilitate the growth of lilies.

3. Temperature

When newly purchased bulbs are first planted, they need to be provided with a warm and comfortable environment with the temperature maintained at 15-25℃ to facilitate flowering. In subsequent maintenance, the temperature can be adjusted in time according to the flowering requirements. Increasing the temperature can speed up the growth rate, but the temperature in winter should not be lower than 5℃ for a long time, otherwise it will affect the development of flower buds and flowering.

4. Lighting

The light requirements of fragrant lilies vary at different growth stages. Overall, it likes sufficient sunlight, which is conducive to plant growth. During the budding period and midsummer, appropriate shade is needed to avoid adverse effects of strong light on the plants.

The above are the key points for the cultivation of fragrant lilies. The natural light is weak in winter, and the fragrant lilies should be placed in a place with sufficient light, such as on a windowsill near a south-facing window, to ensure that they can receive enough sunlight every day.
