How to grow jasmine

1. Breeding environment

1. Soil: It is best to use loose and breathable soil for growing jasmine.

2. Watering: Water in moderation. Excessive watering will cause the leaves to turn yellow, and poor soil ventilation will cause root rot. If you water too much, place the flowerpot in a cool place and loosen the soil appropriately. In winter, you need to control the amount of watering, keep the soil in the pot slightly moist, and water it once every 5-7 days.

3. Fertilization: Jasmine has a relatively long flowering period, so the amount of fertilizer needed will increase, especially during the formation of flower buds. Fertilizer must not be lacking. However, excessive fertilization will cause root rot. Do not fertilize when the soil is too dry or too wet.

4. Light: Jasmine can only grow better with sufficient sunlight. If it is kept in a cool environment for a long time, it will not bloom due to insufficient light. At this time, put it in a sunny place, apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, and control the amount of watering, and it will bloom.

2. Breeding Methods

1. Cutting propagation: Choose a 2-4 year old mother plant and cut the healthy branches into about 10 cm, remove the lower leaves, leave 2-4 pairs of buds on each branch, insert them into the seedbed and water them thoroughly, cover them with a film, increase the air humidity, and they can be transplanted in about 40 days.

2. Layering propagation: Make a cut on a healthy branch when it is 15 cm long, press it into the soil, and cover it with about 5 cm of soil. Water the plants after layering. They will take root in about a month and can be transplanted in about two months.

3. Common pests and diseases

1. White rot: After discovery, the diseased plants should be removed cleanly, and maintenance should be strengthened to reduce the transmission of the disease. When the disease is serious, you can spray with chlorothalonil powder.

2. Cinnabar leaf mites: They can cause the leaves to turn yellow or even fall off. When they appear, you can use triclosan emulsifiable concentrate to spray for prevention and control. Spraying every 7 days and about 2-3 times will have a significant effect.
