How to grow Primula

How to grow Primula

1. Breeding environment

1. Soil: When growing Primula, try to use loose, slightly acidic soil rich in organic matter.

2. Watering: Water it appropriately, and there should be no stagnant water. The temperature is relatively high in spring and summer, so the soil must be kept moist. Water less in winter, generally once every 3-5 days. There should be no stagnant water in the potting soil to avoid root rot.

3. Light: Primrose is not resistant to high temperatures. Do not expose it to light for a long time, especially in the summer. Take shading measures. Also provide appropriate shade when the light is strong in spring and autumn. It can accept full-day light in winter.

4. Fertilization: If you don’t want to keep seeds after flowering, you don’t need to fertilize. Do not apply too much nitrogen fertilizer at ordinary times, as it will easily make the leaves larger. When fertilizing, be careful not to apply the fertilizer on the leaves, as it will easily burn the leaves.

2. Breeding Methods

Sow propagation: The best time to sow European primrose is June and July. There is no need to cover the seeds with soil after sowing, or you can cover them with soil slightly so that the seeds cannot be seen. Provide the seeds with a growth environment of 15-20℃, and they will germinate in about 15 days.

3. Common pests and diseases

It is easy to get damping-off disease during its growth period, and the seedlings may die. It is necessary to spray the pesticide in time. If the disease has already occurred, you can apply the original powder of dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane into the soil, which can effectively prevent and control it.
